Vocabulary Builders
Favorite Words
Some people find words fascinating. If you are one of those people, this section is for you. This section has a list of words that we’ve run across that are interesting enough to remember. Each word is presented with a definition and several examples of its use. Seeing how a word is used helps to fix the definition in your memory so that the next time you see the word you’ll be able to understand the meaning of the sentence.

Interesting Words
Special Cases
Have you ever wanted to know all of the words that have the vowels in order? How about all of the words that you can type with your left hand? This section has special cases that aren’t of any practical use but are fairly interesting.
First Names
This is a collection of common first names.
Anagrams
This list is generated from our big words database. We excluded many of the words in the database that differ only in capitalization e.g. Bob and bob, but some slipped through. We also excluded words and phrases with spaces or hyphens, e.g. ninety-seven and seventy-nine. There was no human input in the selection process so you may find things that make no sense.
Word Frequency in Text
Frequency
I’ve often wondered how often someone uses a particular word. Politicians seem especially prone to using certain words over and over in their speeches. Paste or type text into the box and we’ll count the frequency of each of the words.
Sight Words Frequency
If you want to check on the number of sight words that are in a section of text, paste or type the text into the box. We’ll sort them, indicate whether they are a Dolch or Fry word, and count the frequency of each word in the selection.
Sounds
Consonants
Find all the words with a specific consonant in the Initital, Medial, or Final position in a word. You can also find pre-vocalic and post-vocalic consonants.
Consonant Clusters
This is similar to the last section except that it lets you find all the words with a specific consonant cluster in the Initital, Medial, or Final position in a word. Note that English doesn’t have some sounds in the initial position (tl, dl, vl, and zl) but we’ll let you search for them anyway.
Vowels
Use this section to search for vowel sounds in the Initial, Medial, or Final position.
